you'll require both the monitor and a 16:9 tuner if you wish to keep the tv function, yes plug and play, just a slight adjustment need to be done to the monitor for it to fit.

you'll require both the monitor and a 16:9 tuner if you wish to keep the tv function..........

The TV will still work with the original tuner but will output 4:3 unless you are lucky enough to have one of the later tuners. You can check in the TV settings menu, if you have a 16:9/Widescreen option then it will output 16:9/Widescreen on an appropriate monitor, if not then it will only output 4:3 no matter what monitor you fit. You can bypass the TV tuner if you are not fussed about watching TV and connect the SatNav system directly to the monitor which will output SatNav in widescreen but you will obviously lose the TV function. Unless you fit a freeview/digital receiver then you will lose the TV function in a year or two anyway when the analogue signal is switched off.
The 16:9 Boardmonitors typically sell for something in excess of £300 on ebay and so an alternative upgrade worth considering is this:

Hi Linden,
I think you know Nick at Austin Garages. Have a chat with him and he'll take you through it. He did the upgrade on my car last year and I've been very pleased with it.
