Hi,

Can anyone direct me to a supplier of the Torx Bolts that connect the propshaft to the gearbox adapter coupling on my Mk1 260SE? Part number is TYG000250 and the size is M10 x 50 - Rimmers list them as NLA!

Must be a standard metric torx bolt of some kind?

Suggestions would be most welcome.

Big Frank.

Have tried the scrap yards? Pilsden Autos Dorset are breaking one and I think Broadbents Oldham have one in,worth a call if your struggling.

need the TPI before finding a replacement, as you could replace them with something other than a torx thread, m10 size, 50 length but need more information, as long as you can find the TPI you could use any 10.9 bolt which would be more than up for the job.

Hi, Unplated socket head cap screws grade 12.9 M10x1.50x50 will do the job. Not recommended to re-use once removed. They usually come oiled so degrease them before fitting and torque them to 70Nm (Rave mentions 46Nm in the propshaft fitting procedure - which is incorrect). A drop of loctite 271 wouldn't go amiss. Check the link washers are not distorted / damaged - if so replace them.

When reffering to a metric bolt or nut, the diameter is the first diamension stated ( M10) then the pitch, not TPI we are talking metric not imperial, (X2) this is the distance from tip of thread to next tip, then the length, ( x50), simply M10 X 2 x50. Hope this helps, lagonda51.

Lagonda51, if you are still about, are you sure TYG000250 is a pitch 2 bolt at M10? All my enquiries, to date, indicate 1.5 is an automotive sizing.

Here’s a chart. M10 has two pitches

Good pointer. I'll have to do a bit of downloading from the site as I can't read those posted by yourself.
Difficult to track down a torx bolt(at the moment) in the size we need. I wonder if JLR can help out?
