I thought I'd see if any of you guys would like to buy my Accufab before putting it on Ebay?

I had it fitted to my first 260 for a few thousand miles (3-4,000 tops) before I took it off when I sold the car. It certainly let the engine breathe better. Sharper pick up and it revved out more freely plus added quite a bit of induction roar on a wide throttle as I recall.

It's been sitting in the box & bubble-wrap it came in ever since and is essentially as new.

I'm not sure what it might be worth as I can't find new ones for sale in the UK, but most US sites ask around $425 = £300+ and then import duty/VAT & shipping probably adds £100+, so maybe £400+ for a new one???

Anyway, better on a 260 than my shelf so PM me with an offer if you're interested. I'm happy to post it recorded, or you can collect from Amersham, Bucks.

How much do you want for it?

I think Brian sells them for £369......so 400 seems a bit steep.

Anyway, good luck selling. I already got one

Thanks Martin - I think I did very well to restrain myself from not asking how much you wanted for the cars in the garage. One can only push the "buy your own" birthday presents so far... :p

Oh, they are very reasonable. Pocket money in fact. I need to make room for a 1970 Sport Fury GT I have coming... with the 440 cubic inch "Super Commando" :D:D:D

Thanks Mark. Enjoy the Accufab!

Are you really getting a Fury?

Oh yes. Bought blind from Seattle (well, with some photo's) so I've no idea exactly what I have done my money on yet. It's somewhere at Folkestone docks I believe - a faded vision in brown, but I'm hoping with a bit of work to run it as a rat-look for a while.

I'll post some pics eventually...

Due to work and being away for the weekend I've done nothing but polish the new purchase. However, now I've thought about fitting it, I have 2 questions...

1) Will I need a gasket kit or will I get away with a bit of Loctite and the old gaskets?

2) My car has cruise control - will everything swap across without any problems?

3) Are there any common mistakes I might make?

Oh, that's 3 questions...

there is only two gaskets that i can remember, yes everything swaps over easily, make sure that you position the throttle position sensor correctly and don;t adjust anything, i had difficulty putting the intake hose on because of the jump from the standard size to the 75mm throttle body, just persist and it will go on.

Thanks Peter.

Says in hushed voice..."which is the throttle position sensor"?

I know, obviously, but I'm just confirming :o

Hey there Mr SJR, you fitted second hand didn't you? What did you do about gasketry?

pessling
04-05-2009, 07:54 PM
all the gaskets are there, mine was second hand from america, the main plenum to intake has a gasket in the intake like the picture, all the gaskets are removed from your old one and fit the new, as other than the throttle body gasket that should already be fitted.

Mark,
As Peter said the gaskets are usually still stuck to the throttle body.
I tried to order some new ones though, as I know how much of a pain even a slight vacuum leak can be.:(

But I could not easily source them, so I reused the old ones, and also used a small amount of good quality RTV sealant just to be sure.;)

Also Mark, be aware that the ECU takes a short while to relearn the idle speed when you swap t/bodies (either way).

If mine was anything to go by, the first few miles will result in a near stall for a while but a couple of brief runs, stopping the engine here & there, will see it set itself right again.

Enjoy.

If you go on to the BBK site there is a video with instructions to fit the BBK 78mm TB/Plenum. http://www.bbkperformance.com/products/throttle-bodies/ford-throttle-bodies/mustang-throttle-bodies/96-04-mustang-46l-gt-78mm-throttle-intake.html this will give you an idea even if your fitting an Accufab.

Best when finished installing (mine took 40 mins) is to start up and leave the engine on idle for around 15 minutes which allows the ECU to learn.

Hope this helps.
