Nothing to do with me, but...Whilst cruising around e-bay i found a company in Dorset breaking a Black MK2 260 saloon SE (not SE+ so no HK or powerfold mirrors)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280322166715&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3D R40%26_trksid%3Dm38%26_nkw%3D280322166715%26_sacat %3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

They are very helpful and actually have the car there, unlike the joker in Manchester a week or so ago! Its worth giving them a call, the add says to speak to Ian but i spoke to Robert who was also incredibly helpful.

They will list everything up on e-bay so its safe too.

 Unfortunately its shame another 260 has left us....RIP

Whoops... just had a call back from them (ian), they seem a little bit inflexible and expensive.

I just wanted the gear lever surround and they said they wouldn't sell it, i'd have to buy all the dash pieces... so i asked how much... "well i sold a set last week for £100 +vat +courier costs, so its got to be at least that". £140-£150  They obviously didn't sell it on e-bay then, because they're going for about £35 for everything, drivers piece, airbag cover, vent surround, eyebrow, full centre console and gear surround! (ok i know its for a std ZT, but its really only the gear lever surround that's different)

Someone on the 75 and ZT's said they don't discount and they're carriage costs are steep too.

So just be aware of the full costs when you speak to them.

Thats the not so good side of people coming across stuff on e-bay. Increases demand and makes the breakers think they can get the prices. I had already spoken to them about alternators, starter motors and screen wash bottles. They wanted £80 each for the items so said no thanks other than for the screen wash bottle which costs around £150 so got that.

I already have a spare but have bought this one as a club bottle for members to use in case of emergencies to get your car back on the road if you suffer from a mild front ender. We will expect the bottle to be replaced but means you will not have to wait while x-part etc look for a replacement stopping the car from being repaired. We are only going to do this for small unque items like the bottle.

Did you ask what they wanted for the rear discs BTW ?
They obviously know how rare some of the parts are!

As for the that car's demise, well it was only another black one:D

Forgot to ask. Asking for £80 each set me back. Actually told them we had been selling alternators for around £50 did not make him drop his prices as he knows people will pay that sort of price. The car was a right off due to the off side rear going into a lamp post. Did tell him if he gets stuck with anything to bell me but will not be paying those sort of prices. Also mentioned the 4.2 was wrong. Nice enough chaps though, they paid £1500 for the car.

they paid £1500 for the car.

And by selling the bits off at the prices they currently want  they should almost make back the RRP of the car when it was new!

We should club together (excuse the expression) to buy one if they are only that much... they are worth much more to us!

It's a bit like valentines day, when the price of flowers rocket up, or mothers day, when restaurants inflate prices or charge a booking fee, or fuel shortages, when forecourt prices suddenly go up.

Some people know they are onto a good thing, and simply take advantage.

How very wrong this is. I'd rather go without than give in to the daylight robbers. Play fair, we're all supposed to be the same race.

Storage, time are but a few things getting in the way. I think we are best placed to grab stuff in an opportunist way. The stuff I got the other week was a good example. If you lot keep your eyes open without putting a bid in and just keep the info on this site and in the owners area we can start to control the market. If you put first dibs on an item then so be it, but if the group can buy cheap that would be the result. More owners in the Two-Sixties the better all round buying control. Control demand, control prices.

Spoke to them this morning and said again if they can not shift something to come back to me but at a reduced price.

Good point Tim.

If they get back to you and want to be more reasonable in they're demands then let me know... for me its the gear lever surround, lower centre console module and rear drivers side grab handle.

I don't know, just as long as its reasonable... i'm not into paying the highway robbery prices Dick Turpin Breakers originally wanted though. £120 quid for all the dash panels when the same ZT stuff on fleebay goes for £35 was a tad rich, and his argument that people want them to change their dash over fell apart when i said of the 883 almost 800 had that dash in the first place, and the bits i wanted wouldn't even fit the standard ZT! But hay ho, winge over...sorry :)

Certainly looks the same to me. See if my link works. This is really taking the p*** and rather anoying. How about a boycott ?? If I needed a front bumper, I would rather use a piece of old scaffolding than give in to those robbing gits. Who sold them the car?

they really are taking the mickey! I bet new bumpers are less than that. As i said earlier, it looks like they're attempting to sell the parts to make the cost up to the original RRP of the car when new!

Nothing's surer than the fact that more and more bumpers will come up from scrappers so this price is ridiculous. There's nothing about a ZT bumper that can't be adapted to a 260
I reckon we should all stop contacting these guys and their prices will be a lot lower in a couple of months

That's a good price, Pilsdon are selling they're front MG badge for £540, of course you have to buy the whole bumper to get it :D:D The rear ones about the same price too... and comes complete with the boot lid! So £400 seems a good price. Now this hole in the middle, will it polish out? ;)

Been on the hunt for a mk1 TB rear bumper for the last 3.5 yrs during the early days absolutely nothing was available, but more and more are now surfacing (ebay) and the classified etc and Iam just waiting for the right example(with PDC) daft as it sounds with the recent bad weather lots of front ended ZT's seem to be making appearances, also contrary to popular belief during my search for the bumper I have unearthed a contact in Brum who has access to the Longbridge site and he says that there's still loads of body parts stored inc I hope my bumper:),biggest problem he reckons is that the the "NEW OWNERS" are reluctant to allow any one down the isles due to the condition of the floor(H and S Issues) with reach trucks/cherry pickers and have it on good authority that plenty of body panels are visible albeit with the "Gods",recently there was a glut of MGF brand new OEM front and rear bumpers that surfaced around the B'ham area,so Iam ever hopefull of a result...fingers X'd ....all is not lost yet:drive

I am still bruised from the amount of times I have kicked myself over this (brief story follows):

A few years back, I owned a ZT190 and sold it (always wanted the 260). The first guy that came to look at it fell in love with it, and bought it. I mentioned the fact that I had a "BRAND NEW" ZT front bumper that I had bought at a good price a while back primed, with chrome mesh. "I'll chuck it in if you like - you can have it". So I promptly helped him load it up in the car and watched him drive off.

Oh how I regret that moment of madness :(:(
