Just emailed ZERO to get a quote but thought I would check on the off chance that somebody had a set for sale to save a few quid :)

Don't you fancy Xpowers? Generally a set on Ebay not sure how much the Zero's are?

I am in a bit of a conundrum here. I had twin ovals on my previous ZT190 (so been there, done that), so I really wanted to retain the quads. The X-Powers are single ovals (per side), and from what I have read, many people say they are too loud. The Zero's are supposed to be very good, and would give me the quads. However, they are 400 quid a pair plus VAT plus postage. Whilst probably worth the money, they are over my budget. My local Powerflow fitter said that quads in Powerflow were not possible, but ovals either side would be £155 + VAT (per side). I rang another Powerflow centre who said they could do the quads no probs, and quoted me £140 per side. However, I am concerned that if wend for P-Flows, they might not give the improvent in tone that I want.

HELP :confused::confused::confused:

simple answer is to buy the zeros you won't regret it the quality of Kevins workmanship is outstanding, or to buy the x powers and to modify them using some stainless pipe to create the quad look, cut the ovals off, measure a set of quads to work out the spacing and to TIG weld the quads on. Pay me enough and i'll do it for you. My wleding set is waiting to be used again.

That would be my preferred option I think. However, with two new tyres recently fitted, just re-taxed it, and two more tyres needed very soon, they are simply out of my budget (at the moment), hence my call for for some nearly new ones on here. Perhaps, I'll wait a while longer until the funds improve :(

How much are you looking at for the 2nd hand zeros please, as I am also looking to replace my standards.

Cheers

That'll be great. Assuming they are in a good condition, I have cash waiting, and can collect at your convenience (depending where you are!).

Just say the word.

with any set of zeros, whether they have been cleaned or not they will be in good condition, the quality of construction and quality stainless steel used means that a quick clean would bring them back to there full glory.

Go on the computer to relax before going to sleep after working nights, get quite wired after driving home.

Looks like I was beaten to this one. Does anyone else out there have either zeros or xpowers they are looking to get a new home for. Or are looking to swap theirs back to originals again, or selling theirs and want originals on the car.

Still hopeful!!!!

My car has just been picked up by Dave Robinson (specialist) for its first MOT and a service. As I watched it driving away, I reached two conclusions.

a. It looks great.

b. It's not loud enough.

(although a lad across from us has just bought a TVR and everyone's complaining about it)

Hey - Not wanting to seem overly eager or anything, but, Monday is here :D

Unless you meant the other Monday (that isn't here yet:mad:) let me know the outcome, and PM the important bits (price, method of payment, details of collection, etc.)

Cheers pal

Well, I've bit the bullet and am now the proud owner of a pair of new X-Powers (off EBay). Just have to fit them now though!! Couple of questions beforehand:

1) How much do you think somebody like Kwik Fit would charge to swap them for me?

2) Will I regret them?

1) They are easy to put on would only take minutes on a lift ramp.

2) down to taste, were a bit too loud for me.

1) easy to do yourself, jack up the rear and do side by side or go to ATS or something as they charged me 30 quid to do a cat-back system

2) If you've bit the bullet as you say, I assume you gave it some thought, and then the answer is: no you shouldn't regret it (loads of threads around this subject of exhausts on this forum)

Belcher,
I fitted some X-Powers a few weeks ago. I bought them from ebay (Z warehouse) They took about 1 hour to fit just make sure that you spray all of the bolts with wd-40. Do this over two or three days before you try to undo the bolts, As often people dont allow enough time for it to do its stuff. I removed the rear wheels to give plenty of room to get at the back boxes and swing a big hammer :D.

Personally I try not to let anyone work on my cars, As in the past I have been to so called experts and they are in my experience often worse than useless.

But it depends on what you feel comfortable doing. Remember the self and haftey bit and make sure the car is securely supported.

I really like the X-Powers, and I do not get any resonance. But I do get a slight sizzling from the gear stick.

1) I paid my local exhaust centre £40.00 to fit them, 5 mins one side but 30 mins for the other, they had to cuty the clamp of eventually with a torch.

2) You wont but your neighbours probably will https://www.two-sixties.co.uk/mgoc260/html/f0rum/images/icons/icon10.gif

Thanks for the replies. I popped into my local Slow Fit centre today. They guy said "it was against company policy to fit anything they had not sold!" I then went to another local ETB fitter who was well up to doing the job. They sprayed the bolts ready for me to pop in tomorrow morning. They said bung them about 15 quid :) Also said they had done one of these before and it sounded awesome. Possibly somebody on here?

I'll post one final entry in this thread to give my opinion tomorrow ;)

Well, they're on :D The lads from ETB in Lowesmoor, Worcester fitted them this morning under my watchfull eye. They were great, we had some banter:)

One of the strap bolts snapped off so they had to drill it out and recap it, and both pipe clamps were not going to budge to they cut the bolts off with a torch. Put the X-Powers on, and fired her up. We all grinned lke cheshire cats!

All this for 20 quid in the end. It's gotta be worth it rather than scrabbling on the ground trying to DIY.

Glad I got them, and glad I got the experts to change them;)

Agree with you local lad did mine and appreciated the "beer tokens" ;) also much easier when the cars raised and should some heat be needed most decent garages usually have the gear available, like you say Belcher why struggle for £25 or so plus you get to say... up a bit...down a tad...to the left a bit....:)

I have to agree with Peter. I enjoy working on my cars as much as I enjoy driving them. And the more difficult the work is the greater the satisfaction. Especially when you are adapting parts from a different application etc (On my Mustang).

Although I am probable just insane :D
