I know they are hard to find, but I am looking for a BRG ZT-T 260, preferably pre-Facelift. Any ideas?

I too wanted a Mark 1 but eventually gave up and went for a Mark 2. I think you may have a long wait and could even perhaps be looking for someting that may not exist. I just kept scouring Autotrader, Pistonheads, X Power Forums, Ebay and of course here.

Could always get the mk1 bumpers and lights fitted.

Thanks Tim - don't you guys ever sleep! Found one on Pistonheads, facelift though, thanks to the guy with the lpg car. We'll have to see what transpires though.

Here is a mint one owner 04 SE model. It's black but got to be worth a look at only £6950.

Less than 7K :(

But your loss could be my gain - and fuel here is only 70p a litre so a small V8 is still a splendid proposition.

Less than 7K :(

True, but with almost 67k on the clock, it's got to be the second highest miler we've seen, surely?

for 7k, 67k miles is nothing, most modern engines will cope with over 200k easily plus more, so 67 is only a small fraction of what the lazy mustang engine is able to do. any one have any ideas what these engines can potentially cover,

There are loads of stories of 1m mile Mustangs in the US.

Depends if the rest of the car will last that long... haha ;)

Chaps - I had a look at the black one - photos showed a cared for but working tourer - owned by a vet. He advised earlier this week that it had been sold. Maybe the new owner will join the borg.

at 70p a litre, we should dump EEC, and the Labour Party, and join our friends down under!

Chaps - I just wanted to report in that I've now done my trip to the UK and bought my BRG ZT-T 260. It is probably still on Pistonheads under 4600cc, not 260. It's a great car and I've enjoyed driving it around for the few short days before I came home to Australia. The car will follow in a year's time. I'll post some pics later and probably write about it in my MG Enthusiast column one day soon. It's car number 206 for the records.

Nice one Malcolm!

I have to wait a year as the car needs to be owned for a year before it can be imported - red tape! Otherwise the duty is prohibitive.

By the way, what does the well-prepared 260 owner normally do for a spare wheel? The long empty distances of Australia leave me a little nervous about travelling with just a can of expanding foam, or whatever is in the boot.

Most of us just buy a spare and carry it in the boot. In a tourer, it will fit in vertically if you're packing a full boot so you've got stuff to keep it vertical (or you can be bothered to make some sort of bracket for it), or alternatively, just leave it in there face down, and it's great for stopping a couple of bags of shopping from falling around the car!

Strange, 206 and a mk2 bumper, about 10 too early.

It's 6 days younger than mine :D

Welcome to ownership Malcolm, bit of a tease having to wait 12 months. Enough time to kit it out with the mods and s/c before shipping it out.

Is it going to lord it over the Magnette then ;)

Malcolmr

Thanks Tim - not sure who will lord over who just yet. Garage space is a factor - I'm going to have to rationalise! A lot of blood went into the Magnette though.

I'm interested in the numbering on the 260s. Is there a master list somewhere and do the ZT-Ts have a different VIN to the saloons, ie, is mine 206 out of some 400 or the complete 880 odd production total? My car was an MG-Rover fleet car originally, perhaps they were playing around with the up-date before the official changeover number? It has some SE features but not the complete package, no sunroof for example, or roof bars or sat nav.

Malcolm

Looks like a nice car. Sorry to be a bit of an opportunist but I have a complete sat nav system for sale from my ZTT. See in items for sale if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer Martin, but I'm a bit of a Luddite when it comes to sat nav - I like my hand held maps and I'm pleased that this car doesn't have all that technology! Now if you have one only eleven spoke alloy wheel...

Cheers...

I must admit I only use the sat nav to give me something to argue with when my wife is not in the car. I might find you an Apex but not an eleven spoke wheel I am afraid. I have only had my car since March and have enjoyed every moment of the 6k miles that I have done so far. My daughter has been over from Sydney for a month. She had the choice of my wife's Boxster or my MG ZT-T V8. She chose the MG every time. My wife was quit put out!

Malcolm,
Would you like me to look after it for a year for you?
It looks superb!

Sorry A - a good home has already been sorted - but thanks for offering! I've posted some pics in the gallery for those who like looking at such things.

We've got info up to 226 the rest is from members. (yes I'm still working on it, save anyone asking!) Yours was born on 27th January 2004

The ZT, ZTT, 75 and Tourers, and year built can be identified from the Vin but the three digits at the end relate to the complete production run Malcolm.
