As heading really. Been talking to the owner through ebay. Description on paint colour is wrong. It's the only Nocturne 75 estate made.

There is a guess of the going price and a reserve on the Enthusiasts.

Got nothing recorded against it Pete to suggest its had a hard life so worth a punt. One of only 16 tourers made and the only Nocturne 75 V8. I'd buy and swap it with my 75 V6 tourer but not enough money in the piggy bank for it. The wife would say yes but I would have to sell the bikes, the 75 and be a slave to her for the next ten years. :)

I've advised him on the prices at the moment for this type of car Andy, which is another reason I'd not bid myself.

A small bidding war occurring between two people for this one so far

I know one of them I suspect as he has waited for this to come to market for many years

Very nice car and probably a good investment if sparingly used. Shame it does not have Zenon lights, a curious omission considering it has everything else.

Irreplaceable if the worse happened.

How many of the other 16 are still on the road? I remember seeing a picture of one on flat tyres abandoned in a car park a few years ago.

How do prices generally compare from MG to Rover? Do they seem the same or does one brand command a premium?

I guess it will differ from country to country anyway, Jake. LHD cars are scarce anyway as you doubtless found out, but the greater rarity of LHD R75V8's makes them more expensive than the MG's I think, but there are so few ever on the market of either marque, its very difficult to say. I do know that my R75V8 has just had an independent valuation for insurance at Euros 25K, which is very high, but in line with the handful I have ever seen for sale. I believe rarity was a major factor in the valuation. I wasn't even asked what I thought!

As far as the spec goes, Steve, it's pretty standard Conny SE as far as I can see, apart from the Vortex 18" wheels (and Monogram paint of course).
IIRC the Xenon's came in a rather illogical extras package for the Rover as against the MG variants, which may explain why a lot ended up with projectors instead, like my otherwise "loaded" (sorry !!!) Olive.

Does it not concern anyone that all the photos are date stamped from 2014?

I am surprised, I thought it would go higher than that.

Silly time to end an auction though, Sunday evening is the best time in my view.

I wonder if it will appear again or the seller will try his luck on another website?

what colour and mileage is the other one Steve?

I would not be surprised if the highest or close to highest bidder will come to a deal with him.

I think for the right buyer £14000 or £15000 or so would be a good guess. Very low mileage, if as described in garaged good condition. Who knows where all the 75 tourers are, I know of 3 more but thats it. All have significantly higher miles and arguable not so desirable colour as this one. Rogers duotone (although) done by mcnellie's can still be classed as a colour change from as born so will effect the price for a collector.

If looked after, I am not sure it ever gets cheaper so cant see you will lose money.

Nice car but that in my view is very wishful thinking. I would have guessed at £15k but at £20k the buyer could buy a lot of cars probably a lot more desirable.

The response I received: 'I have now decided to keep it as it's rarer than I thought.(Actually 1 of 16 made , only 10 in this specification, and mine is the only one made in Nocturne blue) To change my mind it would need to be a rather substantial very special offer which I doubt you would want to pay.If you have a particularly robust bank balance then let me know as the reserve was £20,0000. If you are in this area fine, if not no matter as I'd prefer to keep it.......Just try and find another'

What an odd response. If he didn't know it was rare when he put it up for sale, then why did he think he could get £20k for it when the reserve was set? The tone of his response is rather condescending I thought. Did the VIN number get recorded?

Yes, I didn't think it was a polite tone either. I've always been the same - I can't buy a car off someone I don't like ...... stupid i know!

I don't think that we should knock him for 'bigging' up the price.

16 ever made on a low production run of the type. Every day I'd say.

Maybe he doesn't really want to sell it, and is just testing the water to see what it's worth, and how much interest it generates.

But then maybe, if someone is desperate for it and makes an offer too good to refuse who knows?

We aren't knocking him for bigging up the price. Of course he can ask whatever he wants for his car - and good luck to him!
We are knocking the fact he is giving out false and/or misleading information to people who are placing legally binding bids on an item he is selling. Not to mention the unnecessary rude tone he responds in.
