Will a 75 Contemporary or ZT automatic transmission tunnel/centre console fit in a Rover 75 v8 as a replacement? (I prefer the dark side). Or were they a special order?

From memory the centre console in the V8 is unique to the V8 models to accommodate the transmission tunnel

Disappointing. A conversion project I was considering when (hopefully) I buy. Unless somebody has a Contemporary they no longer require?

I'm sure I remember someone (might have been Dom) posting that they are not that different, and with a bit of fettling, could be made to fit?

I've occasionally thought about this, maybe swapping to a light grey, a bit like Aldo's sig pic.

Maybe something for the future....

Here you go, although the V8 is specific it was just a hacked version of the standard one. Here are the photos I took when I compared the 2.

Yes. I recall that, photos too. Can't find it!
As I recall there is a chunk cut out of front end which is why there is cross bracket with a couple of nuts to fix the front in place, which are absent in none-260's.
... or something like that!

Thanks Dom. Our posts crossed. Knew I'd seen it.

Thats a serious bit of hacking there!,I pressume that it was done at the factory,a bit of what the eyes can't see springs to mind, must have been done by the same guy who wrapped the insulating tape/PTFE around the the sunroof drain pipe connectors which was rather unsatisfactory at best.

Or the guy who saws off the ashtray at the same time. Saves on saw-blades.
Probably got promoted to 'Head of Design' on the strength of that!
