Hi All,

Firstly thanks for the add to the Two-Sixties club.

I have just (well November) got myself a Xpower grey ZT 260 SE which I am really enjoying... what a sound!! Anyway was wounding if anyone could help with a couple of items in need to get sorted.

1. My drivers side headlight dipped beam is very low and I think I have fount the problem. The clip that supports the arm for the levelling sensor is broken and would like to know if anyone would have one or know where to get one? It seems that rimmerbros sell the whole sensor assembly (RBW000010) but not the clip.

2. I also need new front brake discs & pads, any recommendations...? seem to be a lot of options out there.

Thanks,
Brett

Hi Brett, if you get your questionnaire back to Tim and get full membership then there is a great deal of information available.

Welcome along.

Excellent idea Brett, it's also a good idea to put your location in your profile as it often helps to know where you are located so people can offer practical help.

Looks like a fairly standard captive clip, I've not heard of one breaking before, if you can post up a picture then it might help to track one down. The club have just had some new discs (front and rear) commissioned which might suit you. Well worth waiting for the production if you can wait that long.

Hi and welcome ! Re. the Headlight problem, if only one headlamp is low then you probably have another problem too. since both headlamps will react to the signal coming initially from front and back levelling sensors ,as I understand it.

With the help of a friend to do the switching, you should be able to see if each units is moving in response to the signal they (should be) getting.
... or on the garage-door in the dark!

Does the headlight levelling sensor/s consist of a front and rear one, left and right?

If so where are they on the car and are they the same part number?

... and it is possible that someone has been trying to use the adjusting screws to compensate, not realizing that the sensor was bust, and one is fully down/up. You will know more when you have fixed the sensor-bracket. Don't forget to check the sensors' arm-joints. Are they seized? Something caused the bracket to break. Best look at front and rear. Also check that the elbow on the arm is pointing the right way when you refit it (and the other one which has not broken). A common cause of movement issues with self-levelling HIDs is that the sensor levers arms flip over. This can be caused by jacking up the wheel or a severe upward displacement of the suspension during a drive. The sensor arm should form an open 'triangle' with the suspension arm, not turned onto it. You can find quite a lot of posts on the subject on the main mg-rover-org forum.

If its the same as my V6, one sensor front , one back (UK-)driver's side.

Thanks all, for the info. The clip for the headlights appears to have rusted away at the bottom, while the a arm and ball joints seems ok. Making my own new clip maybe the way forward.

No sure if the are the same part number, but have one front and back on the drivers side.

Not too sure Brett, if you send Tim a PM he might be able to predict. Basically we need to get up to a minimum order of 100 sets of rears in order to get the best price for fronts and rears (the rears are the most difficult to obtain as the fronts are the same as the 190's (available from Rimmer Bros @ £154 a pair at the moment)). There is a list being compiled at the moment in the members section which you will be able to access once your membership has been 'approved.'

Ok thanks, might have to be Rimmer Bros for the fronts then as MOT is due soon.

just buy some cheap ones off ebay for the front to tide you over until these ones come through. I have some which cost me £60 the pair from ebay with pads and they are fine!

Check your local motor factors or maybe ECP, or get them skimmed assuming there's enough metal on them. I got a pair of fronts for £70 and are ok, just remember you get what you pay for, I do occasionally get a bit of flutter ie I think one disc is starting to throw when really hot but will last me until the club's arrive.

Welcome Brett,

if you are looking for a stop gap to get you through the, I bought a cheap ebay set (discs and pads) to go on my 260 that I've never fitted and now have signed up for a set of the new club discs. Let me know if you're interested in them cheap ;)

They are budget but reportedly decent quality parts, LPB discs and Abtex Plus pads. I'm after £80 for the lot including mainland uk postage.

Cheers,
Rich
