Hi,

I think my '04 ZTT 260 needs an overhaul. The steering wheel shakes when braking, because of the play in the front shock absorbers. I read in the forum, that they are special to the 260 and were hard to find. Are they now easier available somewhere? Are these really the best price: http://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/mg-rover/mg-rover-rnb001080-damper-assembly-front-75-zt-v8/

Also the rear brake shoes for the handbrake are worn out and I would need a pair of those Galfer 520. Is there an alternative? As the rear brake pads are the same as the front one of an Elise, were those Galfer 520 also used on other cars? What about these:http://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/copy-of-mg-zt190-zt260-front-brakes-2-5-v6-4-6-v8-sdb000420-and-sfp000040

My differential has been noisy since the buying the car second hand in 2009, but now I hardly hear the radio any more. Do you really need a specialist like John Reid (+447799117211) to put new bearings?

Shock absorbers should not cause wheel shake I would image you just need brake discs & pads on the front. The rear can be skimmed with new pads.
The diff not sure about but some one advise unfortunatly I gav my old one to another member but you might be lucky and some one will have a spare used one but failing that a rebuild is probably a cost effective solution and will be as good or better than standard.

Ian

I changed the front disks (EBC slotted & grooved) and the front arm rear bushes (Powerflex) Ian W. The only play I keep in my front suspension is in the shock absorber. So is £235.37 (each side) really the best price? http://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/mg-rover/mg-rover-rnb001080-damper-assembly-front-75-zt-v8/

Thank you for the tip, Herman. Did they do a 260-diff before?

I had a steering shake that took ages to diagnose turned out to be the bush at the elbow of the front arm. New arm required to fix.

Get under the car while someone turns the wheel back and forth and you should see where the play is.

Not shure that allcarpartsfast can actually supply the front or rear shock assemblies. The zt has a harder ride than the 75 version so part numbers should differ . If they can supply theres a number of people that could do with a pair including myself...

Not sure, but in the end, a diff is a diff, so if they know what they're doing they should be able to get it sorted

Although those shock absorbers are advertised at several places (All Car Parts Fast, South Lakeland Mini Centre...) they aren't on stock. I'm now communicating with Mr Jan Fork of Bilstein in Germany, and he promised me to send me soon a price for the production of new RNB001080 (F4-VE3-5177-TO). So if anybody would be interested in a pair, please let me know.

I will need some soon, the spring pan's are ok but the body of the shock is very rusty.

I just got a reply from Mr Fork of Bilstein and he offers to make new RNB001080 (F4-VE3-5177-TO), but they will get a new number, because of the copyright of MGRover). The price would be 320€/each + VAT + Transport. If you are interested please send him a mail on Jan.Fork@thyssenkrupp.com

Thank you Herman for the tip. By chance, I was invited to a Noggin' and Natter of Prewar MG-people in Lunteren|Holland yesterday, and in the mean time I could drop my differential at Brunekreef Performance in the same village. They promised that thy will take care about my Dana Hydratrak limited slip differential.
