Surprised these aren't running a lot higher considering the corrosion issues we are having!

Wow they made good money, especially as I only paid £235 for a full set of front and rear albeit 4 years ago

well done

it could be a case of pay what you have to or another 260 off the road

Hope this is not the beginning of the end: rear discs expensive; dampers expensive, rear subframes gone etc. It's IMHO not a good sign that all the wearing parts of our cars are gone or terribly expensive. Like "normal" ZT /ZT-T and Rover 75's, breaking them and selling in parts is more and more profitable :-( Hope I can keep my car on the road the coming years for that reason. They are made to enjoy driving them and not for collecting dust in the garage.....

For a part that is no longer available I think they are cheap and a very good buy.

The label does say Bilstien on it, so I'm wondering if they were only yellow on the sporty versions

Both Bilstein, Rover 75V8 black, MG ZT V8 yellow. Different characteristics and different springs.

I wonder if they could be reworked/revalved to suit a ZT? Luckily I replaced mine a few hundred miles ago.;)

If you bought the black Rover 75 V8 struts you can replace the inserts with your original ZT units as long as they are not leaking. There is only one locking nut and it just screws out. I hope people with corroded struts are keeping inserts as they could re use them in the future, as the damper rate is unique to the ZT. Regards Chris

Both auto and manual springs are the same REB000590. I think you are right about the damper settings. A good price no matter how you look at it compared to the ZT set that just sold.

Rimmerbros list the same number for the ZT 260 and the 75 V8 - REB000590.
I always thought the springs were different as well :)

Wonder how much difference the dampers make :confused:

The front dampers are much softer on the Rover version, the strut is the same inserts are not a problem as I have had them copied but the originals if in good condition can be used. As has been said its the spring pans that are the problem to replace.

The front springs are different. I've tried Rover 75 V8 (Black) shocks on my car really upset the handling. (too Soft)
