My dad's bidding on a ZT model, but wants the Rover walnut interior like the Lexus LS 400.

If all goes and we get one I might be creating other hybrid, only this time Rover interior, steering wheel and everything else will be the same.
We both argreed that the MG range has more of the how can I say. BADASS look to them lol.

They look powerfull that's why i wanted some of the ZT trim on my car, but still maintaining a comfort zone of the Rover 75. :)

Reagards insurance prices how much will it be?

AndyG

...........
Regards insurance prices how much will it be?

Depends on a few factors. I pay £340.00 (as a modified car)

Lord Hybrid

Guess my chances are going on the insurance as slim. :GMC

Guess I'll stick to my M47R diesel for a while lol.

Depends on age? My son is 28 and pays £500 on a ZS V6.
(limited No-Claims, Due to not having a car for many years)

I'm 23 and been driving for 6 years now with 5 years no claims. But then again this will be my dad's pride and joy and I want to help look after it.

Regards to working on the engine and the parts themselfs, is it easy to tinker with, as there much space to gain acess if I need to etc.

Most bits a regular ZT/75. The only differences are: engine, drive train, suspension/brakes, a bit of programming, smile on your face..

Spares are available.

That's good know my dad was worried that parts were going to be expinsive if anything went wrong.

Unlike the Lexus, if anything goes wrong with that, your pretty taking a huge chunk out of your pocket to fix it. :( Lovely car tho.

Inportant question whats like MPG?

My dad's asking well whats it like to drive?

Remember mine's an MG (ZTT) Supercharged.

MPG is anything from 6 MPG (on Bruntingthorpe racing) to 27-28 MPG general running out of town.

Driving: It takes a couple of months to get used to the power and size.

When you get used to that, you can chuck it around ;).

There are not many better cars for handling. (Decent tires are a must)

Lord Hybrid
26-11-2014, 03:33 PM
Sounds like it can kick the Lexus's ass, now you've got us both exited. :)

The LS 400 out of a job ;)

Herman
26-11-2014, 04:13 PM
I averaged 18mpg over 8K (measured over a years worth of driving)

Nich
26-11-2014, 04:20 PM
I tend to get 17mpg around town/built up areas/in traffic going up to 24mpg on a long run (to and from Italy).

Nich.

At the moment £2000, plus myself putting cash towards it. :)

I've had a chat with my dad and best time to get one is next year, best thing to do if he really wants a ZT then the Lexus will have to be sold. :( I think he wanted to keep as well as having a ZT V8 to play with.

Plus next year we'll have a bit more cash and work is better :)

All good things comes to those who wait. :)

Plus researching about these cars will give us a head start, when it comes to viewing one, When I bought my 75 I was like a shark hunting for any faults I can find, hoping there wasn't of course, did find a few things that needed sorting, but the price was right and I bought it there and then. :)

Lord Hybrid
26-11-2014, 09:37 PM
Right when the time comes to look at one, what are the things do I check on? Also what sort of questions do I ask and what are the main parts I'm looking for such as common faults and that kind of stuff. ?

Want to be armed and ready before we even look at one, always good to be one step ahead of the hounds. :)

Perfectly normal question to ask, and one I asked before I bought mine over 7 years ago now :)

Oh, and over a 3300 or so mile trip down to Croatia and back via many mountain passes still averaged 27-28 mpg :) and yes, it was a great trip - five of us took our V8's down there back in 2011

Question may be a normal one but it's a bit like asking how much power a Rolls Royce has :)

If MPG is a part of the decision it's definitely not the right car, if it's a general interest one.................fine

When buying a V8, throw all ideas about economics and green-house-effect out of the window.

Just buy, drive, enjoy...............fuel bill will be what the fuel bill will be................:)

And trust me...... I know about fuel bills having done 90K+ since buying it......................

Its Got MG badges when I replaced the front rear and spoiler, but its too soon to say, as I've mentioned on the enthusiasts that I'm joining the army air corp, don't want to put my name down and not be able to make it and take a space where someone that can 100% make it.

Best bet is wait and get the 260 ;)

OK can someone clarify something here...

In this vid...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccEccPZAr7A

You can hear a low sort of farting/Cracking sound on the tickover like a big oldskool US muscle car, much louder than mine. I have the xpowers and its almost silent on idle.

How is the sound different in the clip? Is that the sound you get with tubes in the Xpowers or something?

Thanks.

Lord Hybrid

It may have de-catted for better flow for the exhaust, I've decatted my diesel its a bit louder and a bit more rumble.

The cat acts like a silencer and a resticter.

You need to be an owner of a 260 before you can become a member (I'm not commenting on them being the rules :o).
You can tell members as their names are green and past owners are purple. Non-owners are blue.
