Make sure the header tank is filled just below the vertical fins. Look in the hole after removing the cap and you will see them about 3" down.

Fill in the questionnaire and go Green and you can access loads more (including the answer to this question and pictures).

Hi and Welcome

For starters, never open the expansion cap after the engine has run for a while. As you found, even after 10 mins. idle from cold there is already enough pressure on the system. Imagine what would happen if the coolant is 90 degrees

There will always be a little residual pressure after the car has been run, even if left overnight.
It is a closed system. As mentioned make sure the fluid level is ok and not too high.

i go check the level tommorow first thing....

You need to be green to access most of the forum (send back the questionnaire)

Mine is up to temp after less than 2 miles at 30 mph (in town)

Hi Thomas, you need to return your questionnaire to Tim to get full access rights. You will then be able to get all of the answers to your questions because you will be able to see the whole site, not just the bit open to the public.

Nich.

Yes return the forms . Our cars do warm up very quickly and run quite hot the temp gauge should be slightly below the half way mark.
Welcome to the 260's ...

I doubt if it is anywhere near operating temp. More like 20 miles I should think.

Think Andy is referring to the temp. gauge which shows mid-scale after about 2 mls in town.
Oil take a while longer but I'd expect much less than 20 mls. :)

They do warm up quickly but could do with an oil temp gauge

I have the sensor fitted to the sump, just not fitted the gauge yet :ash (Undecided where to fit it on the dash)

I would have thought that the oil warms up just as quick. (Just a guess)
