View Full Version : #235 - MG ZT 260 For Sale

I really really don't really want to do this, but a house purchase is forcing my hand :(

My MG ZT 260 is up for sale.

Its number 235, on a 2004 plate with 72,000 miles. Taxed till September, MOT till July 2014.

The car is Pearl Metallic Black (PBT), on Apex rims with half leather seats, rear window blind, sunroof and the highline kit (satnav/TV/radio/info/CD changer (in the boot))

The car has had:
- Rear discs replaced
- Replacement Aircon unit fitted and re-gassed
- New redesigned Eibach rear springs
- Recent spark plugs
- New drive belt (old one had age cracks)
- Heater hose up rated

It?s had all the niggling faults sorted and it?s good to go.

The car has also had various other modifications:
- MG7 Rear lights. Freshens up the rear end
- Bullet style mirrors (the original mirrors designed for the ZT, slimmer and reduced wind noise)
- Zero quad pipe stainless steel exhaust. (Sound awesome, subtle but obvious)
- Accufab throttle body (allows the car to breathe a little better, revs easier)
- Stainless steel mesh added to front bumper to replace the nasty black chicken wire MG used
- Silver indicator bulbs
- Aero wiper blades
- KN Long life airfilter

As you can see from the pics, I've fitted a red suede interior. I have all the original parts though, so if this is not to your tastes, I can swap everything back to standard. It's pretty unique though and really makes the interior stand out. I thought the usual techno dash is a bit dull!

Bad things? As expected due to the age and mileage; There are a couple of minor marks on the body and wheels and it could do with some new tyres...

Gorgeous car with a proper stocky stance, drives beautifully. Starts and runs without issue. If I could, I would garage it and keep it...

I think I'm asking for less than its worth but unfortunately I need a quick sale and am being honest about the fact it could do with some new rubber. Price: £5850. Open to sensible offers.
PM me or 078899SIX7420

Advertising on here first as I would really like my car to go to another enthusiast!

Ian, if your anything like me, you would have been close to tears I know. Sean is driving it up the road at the moment, loving it, loving it, loving it. I taught him well. Thanks very much for the sale, You've made a young man very happy. And his old man too!!! The driveway will look good with 2 x 260s on it. By the way, at 21, does that make him the youngest owner?? Can't be far away.

He was desperate not to miss out on it at that price, so I loaned him the cash. (I Wouldn't have done that for an old M3 mind you)

No, we're not going to actually drive the things!!! That would be too expensive and stupid and loud. They just make nice ornaments for the exterior of the house. Pavement appeal, I think its called. Ha ha!!

How many 260's north of the border now?

Me

The good thing for me, is it might kick start me into doing that charger install now. Whole kit is still sitting in the garage. If I don't fit it, I'll probably come back from a trip abroad to find it's under his bonnet!!! That sort of thing happens when I'm away. My stuff suddenly becomes his. Suits, Bose speakers, golf shoes. You name it.

Well done. Just make sure you get the cash back :) You know what kids are like now-a-days.

21 and a ZT260.......wonder what the insurance would be on that one.

Yeah, bit devastated - Especially when you see it drive away (noise plus looks you dont often see (always driving))... :(

Nice lad, I'm glad its gone to a good home. He seemed quite pleased with it, I hope he has as much fun as I did with it and I hope its as trouble free as its been for me!

Now... lets see how much money I have left after this move.... those MG/TFs are getting pretty cheap these days!! ;)

Gonna have a dig around and find the various 260/ZT bits and bobs I have left lying round. Some bits maybe of use to some. :)

700 was his best quote. He just transferred his existing policy over onto the ZT, for an extra 300 quid or so till end of March. Need to see what quotes he gets then.

Well, it's official. I'm in love. Ian has looked after #235 brilliantly. Wafted up the motorway to Glasgow with ease. Only problem is now I can't stop driving it. Coming up to a junction on the overrun is addictive!

It has indeed went to a good home and we will look after it. Plus they do look good sitting on the drive together! But the black looks fantastic after a wash. I'll be giving it a full going over at the weekend. I do feel quite privileged to own a 260 at my age, and someone actually had the cheek to say to me "you could have had a decent subaru impreza for that money." And give up the noise, comfort and ultimate q-car status? I don't think so. Anyway, good to finally join the collective!

Alrighty, cheers guys. Going to get it serviced next week hopefully, then it's the hunt for new rubber. It has proxes on it just now which, as Ian said in the original post, are past their best. It will be used as a daily driver so im looking for something with decent wear and grip. Any recommendations or should I stick with the toyos?

Actually I realise there is probably more information on tyres than I could ever need in the full section, so I'll have a look as soon as I am turned green.

Tyretraders were coming up cheapest a few months back for me.
http://www.tyretraders.com/

But try camskill, black circles etc etc. Get them swapped at the same time as the refurb. save the cost of getting the tyres removed and put back on etc.

Generally, continentals are factory fit but are expensive and make the car hop at slow speeds.
Had Bridgestone Potenzers on the car at one point, they hopped at slow speeds too.
Toyos pretty much all its life with me, never had an issue. Just a bit soft so wear quite quickly....

The problem with tyres, is everycar seems to behave differently. I think I've got Potenzas on the front (althoughit might be Contis!! . Take a look Sean!!) and I haven't had the slow speed hopping issue for ages.

The last lot I got from Brian.
But it is something you can buy anytime when the price is right and store them, you will need them in the future.
