I Haven't heard that the BCU often is faulty?
What is the problem, how does it appear?

BTW, why are you not green?:-)
You should join the Two-Sixties, lots of information and knowledge.

The only problem that springs to mind is if the BCU is subject to water ingress due to blocked plenum drains. Not aware of any 'usual' problems.

You need to return your questionnaire to Tim in order to get full access to the site, you will probably find the answer to your problem.

What is the VIN (last three digits) of your car and whereabouts are you located?

Welcome to the Two-Sixties! Your problem is more than likely down to water in or around the BCU I believe it's behind the glove box. Check the carpets in that area. If there wet there's a good chance you've found the problem. If there dry you may have just caught it. Either way the guys are right in saying it may be an idea to join the forum and unlock lots of great info on the cars.
How long have you had the car?

Thanks Nigel, I'll check for water ingress in that area. I bought the car about a year ago but have since sold it on to a friend... Regards, Ali

Ah, that explains it. So you aren't a 260 owner but are asking for a friend. Why doesn't he/she join up?

The bcu is located below the ecm which ias above the glovebox. I cant imagine water getting to it.

I don't know of any 'usual' problems with the V8 BCU, so you have an unusual one or something else all together.

Start with checking the battery as a failing one can lead to all sorts of strange behaviour.
Check connections at earth points and general wire check.

Might be of more help if you (or your friend) can describe the problems.
