View Full Version : Exhaust dilemma

Hi groupies,

Time is rapidly approaching whereby the 260 is due for it's annual D.o.T.

Last year a comment of leakage from the exhaust was made on the paperwork. So, I take it everyone now has stainless steel replacements of some sort as nothing has been available from CAT for some years. I've not seen any recent post on this subject so I would like opinions on the subject. Questions might be:-

a). What is currently available "of the shelf" (if anything).

b). What material they are constructed from.

c). Companies (named) who have made replacements.

d). Where replacement items are needed i.e.
WCE000711
WCE000721
WDC001791/1811
WDE000591/601

e). Anything else which you knowledgeable people know about.

Do we have a need for a group buy?

Were getting into dire straits (excuse the spelling - brain tired) - CAT has not produced anything of note over the last few years if my e-mails to them about NLA items is anything to go by.

Any info on exhaust options gratefully received.

cheers,

Kev

Where are you in UK?

There is a company in Wales that will fit a new system including a full twin pipe system. Sound great.

Hatfield in Herts from a previous post Andy

I do wish people would put their location in their profile as it really helps us to help them in instances like this

I would suggest you try Rugbyrover on E-bay he claims to have in stock all variants of our exhaust system. I have just ordered two standard rear cans for my 260 with a set of straps.

Don't know the full extent of the leak until I can make arrangements for a view on a lift. I always find it invaluable to have a rough estimate of replacing a section to a whole system. Keeps everything in perspective. That's why I was interested in how other people had actioned such aspects.

thanks,

Ken.

Much obliged for those links. Never thought of breakers being a source of New "genuine" parts. At least by buying "original" replacement bits I won't have to ask if they are louder or not of if annoying on a long journey.
