Hi Guys,

I have number 469 which is going on e-bay on Friday. Would like to go to a good home. It is 260 member ready. Ad is below, would be happy to sell outside of e-bay if any interest. Just private message me if there is interest.

The reason for selling is I just don't use it enough. It is a great car, was lowered by Andy Kitson I believe.

This one isa Starlight Silver 2005(05) SE,

Car wasregistered in March 2005 so can be taxed at the lower rate of £270 per year. Itis number 469 of only 883 ZT 260 V8s. This MG ZT 260 V8 SE has a 4.6 litre V8with black full leather interior plus MG 260 Owner Club car mats. Taxed untilJune 2013 and MOT to July 23rd 2013. Only 500 miles driven since last MOT. Inexcellent condition, this is a stunning example of a classic/collectors car.Full service history from MG garages or MG trained technicians.

Includes satnav, TV, Harmon Kardon 6 CD changer. Xenon lights, sunroof, climate control,all standard SE equipment. Additionally it is fitted with a BBK throttle kit,has lowered suspension (around 15-18mm lower than standard) which improves theZT handling which was amazing before...this car handles like a sports car!

A chromefront grill in the style of mark 1 ZT's and a set of zero stainless steel aftermarketexhausts are fitted.

Anoutstanding car, sounds amazing. I have owned for the last 3 years and keepunder cover in the garage, bringing out for the occasional weekend blast.

If you areafter one of these you should look at this car, the throttle kit, loweredsuspension and zero exhausts are fantastic additions to an already great car.This is a 260 package for the enthusiast with no expense spared and all recommendedmodifications completed.

Starlight Silver 2005 (05). This car was registered in March2005. Condition is excellent, there are some stone chips to the paintworkconsistent with the age of the car, these are mainly on the front bumper, achip in the windscreen that would I have thought been repairable FOC, thewheels have been refurbished so are in good condition with one having a kerbingmark, inside is immaculate and like a new car, still smells very nice. The MOTadvisory states rear tyres are close to legal limit and front discs are pitted.Couple of marks on rear bumper touched up but not easy to see. That is prettymuch it; the car is in excellent condition and there will only be bettered bythose owned by other enthusiast owners. One key only.

I have put it on for auction so providing the reserve is met it should go. I think the reserve is resonable but we shall see. If somebody is in the market for one and is OK with a silver one which I think stands the test of time as well, if not better than most colours (Not intending to start a debate just my opinion) then it should go. This is my old car which I have been following with interest, I sold it a couple of months ago and has been advertised quite regularly, at reducing price points since. Reduced from a £9k asking price to under £7k, I sold it for £5.5k.

It raises a few questions on a trade versus private sale I think, I am all for both types of sale but it does make you wonder in this example of what you would be getting for your money. I say this because I sold the car privately and advertised that the car was low on the rear tyres and the handbrake was weak, both of which I mentioned as they should be factored into the price a potential buyer would be billing to bid.

We now have a dealer advertisement that doesn't represent these points at all, so presumably they are now resolved, or perhaps they are price negotiation points...I factored these in my own mind at £500 of value that would need to be discounted on the car from the best price I would be able to achieve.

If this were to be the case you now have a £1k difference between what I sold for and what the dealer would make, assumimg the weak points are addressed. Given the costs of advertisements, lack of cash flow, costs of picking the car up etc you wonder if you did need any after care service whether there is sufficent margin to provide it.

I feel this says a good private seller is a sensible purchase, a good dealer with a reputation is a sensible too, but a trader who is doesnt know the market and is just looking for a fast buck is perhaps to be avoided...just food for thought!

Good find, Mike. I'm watching this with a view to purchase. I'd be loathe to fork out the asking price though if the 2 points you raised previously aren't rectified.

Hi all

Would like to say hello to everyone, went out on Friday with a BMW 330i, and returned home grinning with number 469 :p.

Loved every mile driving back and that v8 sound track is amazing especially with the zero exhausts:D, always wanted a v8 and when i found out about the ZT 260 several years ago have been wanting one ever since. I'm only 23 so i did have to wait a while to be able to get one, but very happy now that i have.
