Do you have these comments on copy and paste? They are getting tedious.

Clean looking car with low mileage, there's not many like this left, if this is what your after why wouldn't you pay that sort of money? It's not like you can anticipate another coming up soon.

Oh dear, that looks very tempting.......if only it was a Mk 1...
What is the road tax nowadays on a 56 plate 260?

I think he's trying to lower the prices so he one day can afford one!:-D

If I was after such a rare car I wouldn't care if its from private individual or a garage. I would just pay the price but maybe I'm easily parted from my money lol

Think it's about £475? You'd need to check though.

If you want a MK1 it can't be that difficult to do a bumper and headlight swap?

It may be towards the higher end of asking prices but it's not an unreasonable price, all things considered.

Some people may prefer a non SE particularly on a MK2 (no traction control)and as has been said elsewhere there's not many left like this

I just paid 5k for a 54 plate CDTI with 36k miles, so I can't see how this isn't worth the money! Very nice looking car, I would be seriously interested if I was looking for one.

Some comments are best ignored.....................they'll go away eventually :)

Having different opinions on values is always helpful, but when it always seems to go one way it is a bit pointless

I was going to say, that whilst I can't afford to buy one, that doesn't make my opinion any less valid! :)

However, with a post like that, why bother, as it seems that some owners just hide their heads in the sand as to what their cars are worth on the open Market! :(

Your opinion is just one of many so what makes you right?

Did you own one, did you actually look for one?

Do you really want one?

I think it's time to realise that normal valuations do not apply to a 260 no matter how much you'd like to

When you eventually come to buy one, let us know how much you paid and make us suffer :)
Until then..................good luck searching

'Tis the season of goodwill gents - be nice!

Prices and valuations are always a contentious issue, buyers and sellers rarely have the same opinion.

There are two values for a car, one the value an owner puts on it which comes from what it would cost to replace the car/driving satisfaction and the true cash value which is what someone is prepared to pay you for it. For me my car is still worth what I paid for it (£28K) but its market value is only a fraction of that.

I am like Brian, a replacement? would be a Merc or BM at <£80K therefore that is its value.

My insurance value is £12k

I wonder IF you would actually get 12k..in a write off situ Andy ?
I have had agreed values on cars before..BUT with 2 or 3 specialist/ expert.. written valuations.
I don't believe the Pete Best kind of "self certification" car valuations !
I am sure..ANY..self cert or expert valuation..is evaluated at pay out time..as to whether its " realistoc " and the Claims Dept'S look at current actual prices achieved for your car.

I agreed with them that it was a price of cars for sale (wether they stick to this???)

I am collecting a list of cars and prices that have been for sale so far. (mostly I post in the public section)

As a new owner I have to say you can only buy what's for sale! And you can't make your own prices up. If like me you are a long time zt owner then the 260 is like the holy grail. When I started looking I was quite shocked at the price spread, some high some low but for every car there is a buyer if you want one you will buy one. If you think 260 are pricey try looking at early minis, anybody who pays some of the stupid prices asked for some of the early rare models wants committing in my opinion. So what is a fair price for a car that was built with the Dunkirk spirit, never got a chance to be properly developed yet still shines. PRICELESS in my opinion.

I think thats a good idea. I have seen quite a few really good 260's for sale..not mentioned on here..for not cheap prices. Often wondered IF they got it/ or approaching it ! A data bank of achieved prices would be a good idea for the club info bank. STRICTLY MEMBER'S ONLY..for people insuring there cars and for members in claim situ's.
And..no disrespect/ or snide..intended by my questioning 12k value. Seen yours at Longbridge this year...lovely car Andy ! And..sincerely hope you never in a claims situ.. and have to test out the valuation anyway !

Yes, me too for you. In over 7 years I have had to grind a few rough bits to keep it smooth.
Any challenges I have had, I have had the backing of this forum, I have never found the same support in the over 50 cars I have owned.

I think that's a damn fine car and as the owner of an SE currently a standard car is just as attractive. If I were looking for a saloon now I'd definately be viewing this one.Only downside is having to pay £200 a year extra to the revenue.

Just one of the rough bits that need grinding.

I think it is a good forum and we should support it. so no reason for our members and all MGZT/75 fans not to register there.

And it would save me opening a new thread and keep updating ours from theirs.

I think ours is far more comprehensive than theirs, it has more detail and has more information about more cars. Perhaps they would like to update their lists from ours...................;).
