Just putting some feelers out.

Is there any club member that has a used engine that is for sale cheap. We are in the process of repairing Phil's old car and the engine is a bit sick.... It has a new automatic gearbox already.

Part assembled is fine as I can always use bits from either.

New one available Dom...if he'll split engine / gearbox the price might become reasonable?

Has the old engine been definitely killed?

I have a short block (block and rotating assembly) sitting in my garage doing nothing, and a pair of heads. Not exactly a complete engine, but probably the bits mist likey to be damaged on yours from the little I've read on it. Let me know if these bits turn out to be of use.

More importantly, how did he manage to kill it? not to speak of the box??

Just to make sure I don't do the same.

It was the car that was written off initially due to water damage (Cat-B) but reclassified by insurer and brought back from Ireland to be saved......

Short engine, which would do the job, already offered on Post 6.

Has it not ceased up suddenly with the water ingestion?

I would think the sudden water ingestion caused it. At least I know the problem, will be a good project and a worthy car to get back on the road.

Have a brand new set of pistons, rods and bearings sitting here could be bought for very little. Give me a PM if its of any interest if the block and crank are ok thats all you will need plus some gaskets. You may only require one piston and rod.

Dominic,
One complete new(ish) 7,000 miles engine available. It was running perfectly when taken out.
