Sorry to hear it!

This might be helpful, although they do advise using your own insurance if you have fully comp. It may help out with your No Claims though, could be worth a call for advice!

Never used them myself, but I've seen them mentioned in the past in the context of uninsured/hit-and-run incidents...

Not good.

Depending on the damage I think Brian has a couple of shells that could e used for a rebuild.

yes I claimed off the MIB years ago rather than even my own fully comp insurance as my car was hit when parked by an uninsured driver who'd stolen his auntie's car! Anyway they paid up on the basis that I was only 18 at the time and didnt see why I ought to suffer the cost of my excess and ongoing increased premiums for claiming given I was only 17 at the time and it was my 1st year driving. They paid up. That was he mid 90s though.

As I understand it, the MIB gets a small cut of each premium sold in the UK to help out with uninsured losses eg in the case of a thord party hit from a stolen or uninsured car.

Try all avenues - you dont ask, you dont get!

Oops, that's been a bit of a bang.........
Hope you're alright, no whiplash etc....

Hopefully the chassis beams didn't bend and it could be a good repair job for someone
Otherwise I'm not so sure, it's the damage you can't see that's normally expensive :)

Thanks for uploading the pictures dominic! Luckily I wasent in the car when it happened ! I Have been in the car body repair buisness all my working life and have checked the rear chassis legs and all the damage seems to be superficial! and because there is no insurance pay out it will not be recorded as cat c or d

If he turns that sub up loud enough, that will probably push it back out!!

Never ceases to amaze me as to why we pay insurance, some scroat crashes into an innocent driver/car and you can't get a pay out without legal aid! Have no idea why the innocent have to suffer all the time.

Can I ask the obvious question - If you are in the body repair business, then why not repair it yourself?

I remember myself and Merl speaking to a guy from the North East at last years chomondeley pageant of power about his ICE install and I was jealous at the sound of it. If thats the same one then that looks awesome:D

If you ever decide to remove the system and sell seperate from the car, then I'd be very interested;) I presuming the rear end damage has damaged several components including the amp looking at the position:(

mark mann

Due to economic climate i had to put mg on my traders policy and they would only give tpft cover! A very bad move in hindsight:mad::mad:

Merl
27-01-2012, 10:40 PM
Thats a shame, and if I remember right you made those exhausts yourself?

If you do break her then I would possibly be interested in some bits.

The rocker covers are interesting especially as the oil filler appears to be on the near side... or is that me?

Mk1 non SE?

ColinE

HI Colin what parts are you after?

Sorry if it seems mercenary but if you're not in a position to repair her

Possibly carpet

Rear spolier if intact

What seats are they, and what condition

Does it have power rear blind and or Harmon Kardmon rear parcel shelf

Cheers

Colin

Thought you were spraying yours green!

Oddly enough if you look at the pic - the fuel filler cap does not seem to match, same as mine!

I decided to keep the Q car look ;) I did have a think abou he other style spoiler but decided that suited a mkII beter as that bumper is angular

I couldn't tell on my phone if it was or not... though mybe your one matches marks and marks matches yours ;)

Yep I'd like to see it back in one piece too. But if it is the end then re-using parts is better than total oblivion. :(

On the fuel filter assembly, under the N/S rear seat, under an access panel.
Filter needs to come out to check presence.
