PCV Packed Cell Volume, a measure of the proportion of blood volume that is occupied by red blood cells. :ash

Positive Crankcase Ventilation
Yes we have (somewhere) we do not remove and I don't think they go wrong often?

Thanks chief, just it tells you to renew every 6 years on the MGR service sheets & as I have no history for this car I'm working through doing the lot, saying that it's not pressurising so must be working

I believe the recommendation is not to renew it

They take all of a few minutes to replace, and I would think its a worth while thing to do, but probably a clean out of the old one might be good enough. They;re just a ball valve on a light spring that open with sufficient manifold pressure. If they get stuck open then may make idle lumpy I think.

they dont cost much - I think real steel in Uxbridge sell them.

I seeeeeeee so is that where the breather hose attaches to the throttle body? I'd like to clean it out at least, then there's just the gearbox oil & diff oil to do then I have a fresh starting point to work from as I think although generally the car seems to have been well cared for I think servicing may have slipped by the wayside this last year

No, PCV valve sits on the rocker cover and is a twist fit

Not sure where you're based 2Diesels but Nick at Austin Garages (Burton-on-Trent) may have some in stock, which I brought him from the US when I had mine changed.
