I've been waiting a l-o-n-g time for an LPG XPG ZT-T - just found this on P/H

http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3454312.htm

Anyone know anything about it? Seems too good to be true.

My heart is pounding like I'm about to go on my first date! :love

Thanks chaps - my ONLY reservation is the mileage, as I wanted something around 30k - engine should be ok, but trim wears the same on any car - still, best go and give her a spin, eh? ;)

But very fair price

I would not worry about the mileage. I think the nature of someone fitting a LPG system is that they will be using more than a Petrol version so if you average it out it is not much per annum.

The Engine in our car is great, if you look at it's longeverty of the car it was designed for in America you will see that properly serviced like this car appears to be it will run for many many miles will little issues.

I lot of the the small issues we have are manly to do with a car that was redesigned to fit the engine rather than the engine itself. The figure quoted for the LPG system seems right and so you are getting a vehicle with the work done for little money. Any changes as you know, you can make relatively easy so you can reto-fit over the next few years to make it an SE version

Agreed.
Description is a little inaccurate though, as wheels are not Apexes, seats are not alcantara and headlights are not Xenon!
Nonetheless, get there quick!! :D

I have the BRC system on mine, fitted at 7000 miles and now at 115,000. if anything the engine gets better with age, Brian once told me that the engine will take about 85,000 miles to run in and he may be correct, when I was in the 90's it seemed to be noticeably smoother than before, and ever in the last couple of days with an additional 20,000 miles on it stills seems to be getting smoother.

colintf

seems a lot of car for not a lot of money, despite the inaccurate description

Would it fall into the higher car tax band still, despite being LPG?

Oh!
Where would you suggest putting it, on the roof.
Yes it seems a very fair price with the seller doing 54000 miles in it.
Ask him how this was made up, if it was a lot of longish motorway travel then you should have no worries
I bought an LPG 260 , a saloon, earlier this year for a similar price with 49000 miles on the clock. Had to spend a bit on it, tyres, rear springs, changed rear exhaust boxes back to standard and a few other bits and pieces
IMHO if an LPG estate is what you want go for it, don't prat around put your money on the table TODAY
And no the seller is not my brother-in-law, uncle, cousin etc.
Good luck
Dave

looks good, wont hang around long at all at that price for an estate.

The sticky drivers door lock could be annoying though, but probably an easy fix. mine does it on the passenger side but usually pops up after relocking and unlocking once or twice with teh remote.

I have BRC system also, fitted at 20k and now done 106k. I did have to have 5 of the 8 injectors replaced recently though as they got leaks.

Also, I think the regulator is tired on mine as no matter how much the lpg specialists I use try to set it up, I still drop power sometimes on full throttle like the lpg system cant suppky quite enough gas at full load. So check this out on your test drive compared to petrol running. They should feel similar.

66k is nothing. Go for it.

Thanks for all your advice - much appreciated - mileage is mainly longer runs, apparently, so that's ok.

Won't need much room in the boot , don't want to drag the mpg down ;)

As for the wheels, yes, they look like the same 11 spokes I have on my 190 and the seats look like half leather half summit cloth, but are they definitely not Xenons headlights? - again, same as mine, which are.....anyway, going to see for myself later this week, so any more info gratefully received

Good point about uprating to SE spec afterwards - also, is it only Mk1s that don't have traction control, or would this also lack it, being a basic model?

Non-SE doesn't have TC, I have never found that an issue but on here I have heard those that have it tend to switch it off as it's annoying!

Does have LSD though that's all you need.

well i would try and put it in the boot well same as my range rover !!!!
and reposition the battery
but if space is no issue then no problems

just seems a shame to have a part estate

also headlights our xenons you can see them in picture

Non SE was basic spec, no electric rear windows as well as no everything else, SE had everything almost...

PS the weight saving is mainly in the sunroof or lack of, but a lot of non SEs had sunroofs as an extra...

I looked at a 260 before I got a 75 V8 and it had manual rear windows. So they are around. In my experience just stops the kids messing..... The guy who was selling the 260 said with it being basic there is a lot less to go wrong.

As for windy rear windows, well they're Old School and my kidults hardly go in the back these days anyway - most of the time they sit in the front if I take them anywhere, or if we go out as a family it's in the wife's Jeep as she doesn't like a hard ride ;) (the Bilstein 260 shocks I put in, you filthy lot)

No, but that would explain why it looks a little tired for a 56 plate.

Went to see today - nice chap, seems genuine, had the car since 2007 and 11k. Has fsh and all the bills as per the ad, so mechanically sound and seems on top of some of the 260 wrinkles. Cosmetically, bonnet has stone chips that are starting to rust and there are some dinks and donks, more scruffy than serious and the wheels need some TLC. Drives nicely, no driveshift clunk, no rattles & squeaks & nice and tight. Engine clean enough but looks a little 'old' if you know what I mean - see pics on site - http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3454312.htm

Quite basic - no trip comp, no sat nav/tv, cloth seats, manual rear windows, but I presume it wouldn't be too tricky/costly to uprate those?

As we were driving, he mentioned a wheel bearing which he is getting fixed on monday and it's just been serviced & MOT'd but a red 'STOP/CHECK' light flashed up momentarily a couple of times - should I worry about that?

Overall I think the bits & pieces can be sorted for less than a grand, which is why I gave him a deposit and said I'd go for it :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Just want to make sure you guys don't think there's anything in the above to be concerned about?

Really appreciate your input so far

Well... dinks and donks are about £60 a panel, wheel refurb is about £50 each, TV is a waste of space and the satnav not much better, and what's the issue with manual rear windows when you will always be in the front?

Sounds fine...

Not a field, but probably next to a railway line!

VIN number is not important as most were built in a short space of time and were not registered in order, my first one 323 had a 55 plate, the second 349 is a 54 plate

They will have been sat somewhere until registered so 06/07 have been parked up for a long time and were not usually under cover or looked after particularly.

just check the paintwork and remember they are all at least 6 years old now I think!
